Lauren Reisig

Senior Vocal Coach

Lauren began her singing journey at the age of 10. After trying out various instruments, including the violin, piano, and flute, she found her true calling with the trumpet and voice.

Lauren trained with the wonderful Calgary-based teacher Rachel Hop for about 10 years. During this time, she participated in the Kiwanis Music Festival (now the Calgary Performing Arts Festival, CPAF), the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), and the Contemporary Showcase, often competing in both Musical Theatre and Classical selections.

Alongside her singing, Lauren was active in the dance community, studying various genres of dance for 12 years. This allowed her to incorporate movement into her performances, sparking her love for staged work.

Though singing is Lauren’s main focus, she played the trumpet for six years from grade 6-12, participating in the Calgary Stampede Showband as a trumpet player and member of the Colour Guard. She has been featured in several shows put on by this group and has had voice solos in two productions. Fun Fact: Lauren was part of the Showband when they won their 6th World Championship!

Lauren participated in Mount Royal University’s Conservatory Program “Vocal Academy” for three years, taking courses in IPA, musicianship, choir, studio classes, and many guest masterclasses. She also attended two summer vocal programs: the Southern Alberta Vocal Experience (SAVE) and the Cowtown Opera Summer Academy (COSA), where she worked on many pieces and participated in workshops, including acting and breath work for singers.

Lauren recently completed her Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Vocal Performance at the University of Ottawa under the direction of Christiane Riel and will continue her Master’s in Vocal Performance this September. Her love of singing has brought her from Calgary, Alberta, to Ottawa to pursue her passion for performance and the arts. She recently sang the role of Gretel in UOttawa’s production of Hansel and Gretel, bringing the music and story to life.

Lauren’s experience is largely focused on performance, and she is excited to work with students to share her passion for music and performance. As singers, we never stop learning. Teaching allows us a fresh perspective and an active rediscovery of the art of singing.

Students at Sing House Studios will love taking lessons with Lauren, whose passion, experience, and enthusiasm will inspire and guide them on their musical journeys!
