Ryan King

Guitar, Ukelele & Songwriting Coach

With 18 years of guitar playing experience, Ryan King is no stranger to the strings. He started off learning classic rock and basic chords and his love for guitar grew more and more each time he picked it up. He begun expanding his musical talents and progressed to learning metal. Upon discovering this fast-paced and more technical side of guitar, he was immediately hooked on learning this new genre. At this point, Ryan began writing his own material and soon started playing live shows with other musicians.

After delving into the world of performing, he decided he wanted to further his musical skills and began taking vocal lessons. He spent time writing acoustic songs with original lyrics and vocal melodies for many years. You can find him playing acoustic cover shows all across Ottawa still to this day, and also with his bands. Singing in his pop punk band called “Holly Acres” and playing guitar in his metal band “Ghost of a King”, he’s an active member of the Ottawa music scene.

Musical accomplishments:

  • Touring across Canada in “Holly Acres”
  • Professionally recording guitar and vocals
  • Working with a number of experienced musicians throughout his 18 year music tenure
  • Lots of experience playing live shows including Navan Fair

Ryan’s musical influences come from many artists across all genres, as he doesn’t like to limit himself to one style of music. From artists such as Protest The Hero, Billy Talent & Jimi Hendrix to others like Frank Sinatra, Passenger & The Home Team, they have all had a crucial role in molding his musical diversity.

When he’s not playing music, Ryan likes to spend his time cooking, watching hockey and getting together with friends.

Ryan is excited to have the opportunity to bring his passion for music to others and be able to teach others the skills that he has spent so much of his life cultivating.
