Taking the Stage: What are Performance Classes?
Audition results have now been passed along to our students and they are excited for this year’s showcase entitled “A Night with the Stars“, held on June 20th 2015 at 7PM. Not only will they get to perform at SHS’ annual event at the Shenkman Arts Centre, but they will also get to work with Jerushah Wright, this year’s new performance and voice coach. Each student enrolled in the Showcase Package will work with Jerushah for 3 hours over the course of 3 months and her goal will be to help them develop better stage presence on stage which are skills they can also transfer off of the stage, in their daily lives.

Location: Sing House Studios
Time: Students can book the classes with their coaches or directly in Music Teacher’s Helper. Since there are 3 classes included, they should book 1 per month (April to June 2015).
Course Description: TAKE THE STAGE: Gain Confidence & Learn to Perform
Jerushah Wright’s trendy loud demeanour accents her skill as an alternative Jazz, Blues and Soul artist/songwriter. With her Retro-future spirit she brings a new look to music today. As the new coach on the block, Jerushah will give her personal practice technics and insights for the STAGE! As many artist come many of them go, why is that? “Discipline is freedom”, many don’t have the proper tools and endurance to maintain a successful music career. No one works towards being a one-hit-wonder or a studio artist only or a crowd pleaser. TAKE THE STAGE better your career as a performing artist!
TAKE THE STAGE: Gain Confidence & Learn to Perform includes three (3) 1-hour private classes that get you ready to hit the stage by giving you performance fundamentals that focus on four (4) guidelines:
Stage 101 + Audience
Stage 101 + Audience focuses on the relationship a performer has on stage and with a public audience. We will provide insight and specific techniques for the artist to have confidence approaching live shows and build a connection that allows them to build a fan base.
Presence & Perform
Presence & Perform allows the artist to perform with engagement and purpose. “The song is the script!” The artist will learn how important it is to be a storyteller!
Image Vs. Intention
Image Vs. Intention will give the artist the ability to identify what ‘style’ they wish to represent. This will build a unique look for their sound and will give them a clear direction in terms of what music scene would best suit them as an artist.
Artist/Show Development
Artist/Show Development aims to get the artist to see the whole picture! The artist isn’t just the voice but the director of the performance. YOU RUN THE SHOW! From your personal style to the spotlight on the stage! We will give you hands on tools to have the ultimate creative performance freedom. Wouldn’t you feel more at home on stage if it actually seem more fitting to what you had ‘pictured’ for your song selection?
