Ryan
Master Guitar, Bass, Ukulele and Songwriting Coach
With 20 years of experience, Ryan brings a deep passion for music and a well-rounded performance background to his teaching. His musical journey began with classic rock and foundational chords, quickly growing into a lifelong love for the guitar. Over time, he expanded into a wide range of styles — from metal to acoustic songwriting — developing a versatile approach that allows him to connect with students of all ages.
Ryan has performed live for many years, including touring across Canada with his pop-punk band Holly Acres and continuing to perform original music with his metal band Ghost of a King. He also regularly performs acoustic cover sets throughout Ottawa, combining polished guitar work with expressive vocals.
To further strengthen his musicianship, Ryan pursued formal vocal training, allowing him to merge confident singing with his guitar playing. This experience helps him support students who want to sing and play — or simply develop stronger musical expression.
Inspired by artists such as Protest The Hero, Billy Talent, Jimi Hendrix, Passenger, and Frank Sinatra, Ryan enjoys helping students explore a variety of musical styles — from rock and metal to pop and acoustic.
As a teacher, Ryan works comfortably with both children and adults. He combines real-world performance experience with a patient, encouraging approach that adapts to each student’s pace and goals. Whether a child is just getting started or an adult is returning to music later in life, Ryan focuses on building confidence, technique, and a genuine enjoyment of playing.
His goal is simple: to help every student feel capable, motivated, and excited about their musical journey.
